Peter John (Wally) Bancroft

Peter (Wally) Bancroft is a leading practitioner in disabled transport in Australia. He has spent much of his working life in the research and development sector, entering the disabled transport industry with Paraquad Engineering in 1987. During seven years with Paraquad he became convinced that it was possible to make significant and unprecedented changes to existing mobility aids including wheelchairs that could enable far greater independence for his disabled clients. In 1994 he start his own engineering business. Largely surviving on selling and modifying existing technology, Wally was able to develop innovative modifications to electric wheelchairs to improve the quality of life of his disabled customers. Baribunma Holdings was formed to commercialise Wally’s innovations and related concepts. Wally is an authorised signatory for the N.S.W. Roads and Traffic Authority enabling him to certify vehicle modifications for use by disabled drivers in registered motor vehicles in N.S.W. To the best of our knowledge, his designs were officially approved to enable the first person in Australia to drive from a wheelchair. He has served as a consultant and lecturer at the University of Western Sydney (Cumberland College of Health Sciences) and is widely sought as a consultant to other disabled support groups. Wally provides his services and facilities to the Company pursuant to a Research and Development Agreement.
