Overview The design of the wheelchair has
basically been the same for over a century. Power wheelchairs are marginally
better although when it comes to utilising those wheelchairs in motor
vehicles, historically this has meant changing a motor vehicle to suit the
wheelchair. This involves substantial and very expensive structural changes
and basically destroys the resale value of the vehicle. Clearly a
less-than-perfect solution. That is until now! Wally
Bancroft has developed the finest powered wheelchair in the world. The Baribunma
Wheelchair is extremely versatile and incorporates innovative features
designed to significantly improve the quality of life of any person confined
to a wheelchair. The ability to raise and adjust the rake of the seat of the Baribunma
Wheelchair offers significant advantages over existing designs in everyday
use such as at a dining table or workstation. In particular the Baribunma
Wheelchair has been specifically designed to fit the driver and/or passenger
seating positions in appropriate motor vehicles. For the first time, instead
of the vehicle being adapted to fit the wheelchair, the wheelchair has been
designed to fit the vehicle. This has enormous benefits
including: ·
Improved mobility for
people confined to a wheelchair. ·
Vehicle modifications not being required therefore no damage is done to the motor vehicle, improving
resale value and reducing corrosion.
·
A feeling of “not being
different” to other passengers in vehicles. Users of the Baribunma Wheelchair indicate that
it provides a range of benefits required by any individual with limited
mobility. Mobility is improved, minimising the efforts of family, friends and
carers in assisting with transportation and movements. Disabled
users report a desire to appear “as normal as possible” The Baribunma Wheelchair removes most of the
impediments to normal automotive transport for disabled passengers. They are
able to sit at normal automotive seat height and use normal seat belts,
outwardly appearing no different from any other passenger in an equivalent
vehicle. |
