History

Wally Bancroft has over twenty years experience in modifying equipment to suit people with disabilities. Over the past fifteen years he has designed and built many wheelchairs for people with varying disabilities. All have performed beyond expectations. Through this work Wally has developed the design of the Baribunma Wheelchair to provide a mass produced chair with numerous advanced features. The chair takes advantage of this extensive testing and experience gained from earlier custom-built wheelchairs.

The following milestones have been achieved:

  • The first prototype of the Baribunma Wheelchair was completed and tested in a range of environments as "proof of concept". It performed admirably.
  • The prototype was rebuilt using the knowledge gained in previous field-testing to eliminate design faults, producing a suitable model to submit for external testing.
  • The Company launched a successful capital raising campaign, selling equity in the business and developing strategies to keep shareholders informed as to the Company's progress.
  • A module was prepared for automotive "crash testing" through the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority Crashlab. It satisfactorily completed the rigorous testing program, resulting in ADR 3/02 certification.12 This is believed by the testing authority to have been the only "wheelchair" to pass this test.
  • Significant government interest was generated, resulting in funding to assist with the patenting of the technology and testing of the wheelchair to rigorous Australian Standards.
  • The Company listed on the National Stock Exchange of Australia, NSX in May 2006.
  • The Baribunma Electric Wheelchair is listed by the Therapeutic Good Administration as a Class 1 Medical Device.
  • The Company offers the production model of the Baribunma Electric Wheelchair for public sale.
